These are the best riverwalks in Málaga province around the Estepona area. Let’s dive in:

Gaucín river walk

Gaucin is a charming whitewashed mountain village, just half an hour’s drive from Estepona. Gaucin is a spectacularly beautiful mountain village commanding sweeping views to Gibraltar and North Africa. Furthermore, the village is a gateway to the Serranía de Ronda where, depending on the time of year, you can enjoy an impressionist palette of colour: brilliant brush strokes of red poppies, yellow mimosa, purple wild orchids, tempered by the cool green of olive groves and occasional splash of pale pink almond blossom.

In fact, the “Cañón de las Buitreras” (Vultures’ Canyon) is located on the eastern edge of Los Alcornocales Nature Park, in the Province of Cadiz. As a result, its name is no coincidence, the Cañón de las Buitreras is a nesting ground for a large colony of Griffon vultures that live high up on the craggy sides of the gorge.

The gorge has been created by the erosion of the limestone rock over millions of years by the river Guadiaro that passes on through the beautiful town of Ronda. Must be remembered that at certain points the canyon sides rise to 200 metres high and this is very impressive.

Here, the Guadiaro River runs through it and as an exceptionally clean river, it’s home to many turtles and fish.
